Description

The LPD Pedals Supernode is an all-analogue dual overdrive built as a flexible drive section for a working pedalboard, giving guitarists and bass players two distinct gain voices that can be used alone, stacked, or blended to suit anything from cleanish rhythm work to pushed leads. Its left and right layout keeps each circuit clear and quick to operate on stage, while the order/parallel selector and programmable switching make it equally comfortable in a simple rig or a more involved board where gain staging needs to change song by song.

On the right, Lawrence Petross’s take on the iconic ODR-style circuit delivers an open, full-bodied overdrive with a wide frequency range that stays articulate as the gain rises, working well into a clean backline amp or as a pushing stage for an already-driven amplifier. The added post-clipping Bass control helps keep low end under control for tight rhythm parts or lets it stay generous for bigger sounds, and the internal Saturation trimmer adjusts how much low frequency content hits the clipping stage, letting players fine-tune the feel from looser and broader to more focused and punchy. On the left, a modified Seventy4 Deluxe Green channel leans into 1970s Super Lead punch and growl, with a firmer, amp-like drive character that adds bite, harmonic density and authority without turning the sound into a generic “pedal” layer; an internal mids trimmer is there for anyone who wants to dial in more mid presence than the simplified front panel provides.

Under the fingers, the LPD Pedals Supernode is set up to respond like a gain structure rather than a special effect: pick attack translates clearly, notes bloom into sustain as the Drive controls rise, and both sides react naturally to volume knob changes, encouraging players to work the instrument rather than fight the pedal. Balancing the two circuits is straightforward thanks to separate Level and Drive controls for each side, with the Seventy4 side offering Treble and Bass to shape the overall voice and the ODR side pairing Spectrum for the top-end range with its dedicated Bass control for low-frequency management; the control ranges are musical, and small adjustments remain usable at band volume.

The circuit approach follows the same kind of gain-stage thinking as the amplifiers it draws from, scaled to a pedal format with careful attention to interactions between signal path and power supply, which helps keep the noise floor low and the response consistent across different rigs. The soft-touch footswitches are custom-spec momentary switches designed for quiet, fast operation and high cycle life, with last-state memory so the pedal powers up exactly as it was left, saving unnecessary extra taps during setup. The switching system is also practical in use: Independent mode lets each side behave as its own pedal, Toggle mode makes the two sides act like channel switching when stacking is not needed, and Master mode turns the Supernode into a single on/off stacked drive for players who always run both circuits together, with the order/parallel selector offering ODR into Seventy4, Seventy4 into ODR, or parallel routing when both circuits are active.

Built for everyday gigging, the LPD Pedals Supernode comes in a tough all-metal enclosure with a solid, confidence-inspiring feel underfoot, and the control hardware is chosen with the same care: Alpha-style potentiometers with consistent turning resistance, paired with custom aluminium knobs that make fine adjustments feel smooth and deliberate. The graphics are clear and uncluttered, looking tidy on a crowded board and staying readable under stage lighting, while the individual bypass LEDs for each side make it obvious at a glance which circuit is active. True bypass switching helps preserve the core instrument and amp sound when the pedal is off, avoiding unwanted loading and keeping signal integrity intact. Top-mounted input, output and 9V centre-negative DC connections support neat cable runs and close pedal placement, and the pedal is designed for standard pedalboard power with modest current draw. Backed by a one-year warranty, the LPD Pedals Supernode is a reliable, professional tool for players who want two refined, amp-voiced overdrives in one box, with routing and switching that invite experimentation while staying simple to live with night after night.

Controls

  • RIGHT FOOTSWITCH: Soft-touch switch engaging the ODR circuit, with quiet operation and last-state memory
  • LEFT FOOTSWITCH: Soft-touch switch engaging the Seventy4 circuit, offering fast response and confident stage control
  • LEVEL: Sets output for each side, balancing unity gain or pushing amps and stacked circuits
  • DRIVE: Controls gain and clipping range, staying responsive from edge-of-break-up to saturated tones
  • TREBLE: Shapes high frequencies on the Seventy4 side, adding bite without harshness
  • BASS: Adjusts low end on the Seventy4 side, keeping rhythm parts full yet controlled
  • SPECTRUM: Sets overall brightness on the ODR side, interacting musically with gain and bass response
  • BASS CUT: Post-clipping low-frequency control on the ODR side, tightening lows for clarity and mix balance
  • SATURATION TRIMMER: Internal pre-clipping bass control, fine-tuning low-end feel and drive response
  • MIDS TRIMMER: Internal Seventy4 midrange adjustment, tailoring presence and cut to guitar, bass and amp
  • ORDER/PARALLEL SWITCH: Selects circuit order or parallel routing, shaping feel, punch and note separation
